Along with the increasing popularity of anime, the presence of slice-of-life anime is also growing stronger. Nichijou is one of the most famous and popular manga and anime slice-of-life series of all time. It’s easy to understand if you think of slice of life, which is called Nichijou-kei in Japanese, as an anime version of sitcom.
The anime series of Nichijou, mixed with comedy and surrealism, aired in 2011 and consists of 26 episodes made by Kyoto Animation. It is adapted from Keiichi Arawi’s manga series that has been serialized on Monthly Shonen Ace since 2006. Fans were surprised by the new 11th volume, which was released for the first time in seven years, since 2015. At the same time, they were delighted that Nichijou is still going on.
The adapted anime series just finished in 2011, but there are still many episodes that have not yet been animated. How many volumes does Nichijou have?
There are 11 volumes in the Nichijou manga series so far (the latest 11th volume published in December, 2022.) To begin with, Nichijou started as a manga series in 2006, written by Keiichi Arawi. The serialization on a manga magazine Monthly Shonen Ace came to an end in 2015. Those chapters were collected in 10 Tankobon volumes. And amazingly, it re-started on the same magazine in 2021, and the newly-published 11th volume was released in the end of 2022.

Where does Nichijou anime end in manga?
Then, where should you start reading the Nichijou manga after the anime series ends. The anime series made by Kyoto Animation was completed with Nichijou Episode 26, and an OVA Episode 0 was released as a bonus supplement to the 6th volume of the manga. The whole series covers the original manga series from Volume 1 to 7. However, it is not enough to start from Chapter 125 (Nichijou no 125), the beginning of Volume 8.
Those original chapters were animated not in order, so it’s difficult to say exactly what chapter the Nichijou anime ends in manga. For Volume 6 and 7, not all chapters were adapted into the anime series, though.
If you want to enjoy all the chapters in their entirety, you should start reading from Volume 6. With some unadapted chapters in Volume 6 and 7, you can proceed with brand new chapters from Volume 8 onwards.
When will Nichijou Season 2 air?
No information on a new season of the Nichijou anime series has yet been suggested. That’s not to say there’s no possibility of a sequel production since there are several manga volumes to be animated in the future.
