The living legend Hunter x Hunter has attracted a great number of fans of manga and anime all over the globe for a long time. The classic action adventure started to be serialized on Weekly Shonen Jump in 1998, which hasn’t been completed yet. It sometimes becomes in hiatus due to the condition of the the manga artist Yoshihiro Togashi.
Hunter x Hunter has been also successfully adapted into the quality anime series; there are two versions of the Hunter x Hunter anime series. The first series aired with 62 episodes between 1999 and 2001 plus 30 OVA episodes. The latter one is composed of 148 episodes broadcasted from 2011 to 2014, which is more famous and popular.
The 2011’s anime series covers the major part of the story in the currently-published manga series, however, you can enjoy the rest of the story in the manga series in English.

How many volumes does Hunter x Hunter have?
Written by Yoshihiro Togashi, Hunter x Hunter has been serialized on Weekly Shonen Jump since it was first released in 1998. There are 36 volumes in the Hunter x Hunter manga series published so far. It has got put on hold since the latest 36th volume was released in October, 2018, though. Of course, all of the already issued volumes are available in English now.

What chapter does the Hunter x Hunter anime end on?
The information here is based on the newer anime series made by Madhouse between 2011 and 2014.
To come to the point, the Hunter x Hunter anime series ended with Chapter 339 “Stillness” of the manga series Volume 32. You can read the following story including the Dark Continent Expedition arc and the Succession Contest arc from Volume 32 Chapter 340 “Special Mission”.
The anime series presents the story from the first Hunter Exam arc to the final 148th episode “Past x And x Future”. It’s also recommended to watch the two spin-off anime movies released in 2013: Phantom Rouge and The Last Mission.

Read the volume 32, 33, 34, 35 and 36 at least, and it’s also recommended to binge-read Hunter x Hunter from start to finish again before the serialization restarts by the author!
