Yoimonogatari (宵物語) is the second part of Monster Season of Monogatari Series written by Nisio Isin. It was published on June 14, 2018 as the 24th volume of the whole light novel Monogatari Series, following the previous book Shinobumonogatari released in 2017.
Yoimonogatari contains two episodes Mayoi Snail and Mayoi Snake and the front cover with Mayoi Hachikuji having the familiar pink backpack illustrated on it by Vofan.
“Yoi” of the title “Yoi” monogatari indicates “Yoi” of Ma “yoi” Hachikuji in Japanese, so this book focuses on the lost snale girl.

Mayoi Snail (Monster Season: Episode 2)
Mayoi Snail (まよいスネイル) is the first episode included in Yoimonogatari focusing on the protagonist Koyomi Araragi after his admitting the university. Mayoi Snail is situated as the second episode in the whole Monster Season.
Plot: Mayoi Snail
Mayoi Snail centers on Koyomi Araragi in the early period of his university life. He is told about a missing persons case by Hoshiame Higasa, a third-grade student in Naoetsu Naoetsu Private High School and a Suruga Kanbaru’s former teammate of the basketball club.
A 10-year-old girl named Kujaku Beniguchi has become missing since a few days ago, who is the little sister (exactly sisiter-in-law) of Hibari Beniguchi, who is a friend of Mitono Shounou, who is a former teammate of Hoshiame and Suruga. Her lost tooth is found in a mail box of her house.
Koyomi visits North Shirahebi Shrine with his partner vampire girl Shinobu Oshino and a tsukumogami doll girl Yotsugi Ononoki to consult with Mayoi Hachikuji, who is a new goddess enshrined there and an expert lost child.

- And then, Koyomi goes making a search a nearby town for Kujaku with Shinobu while Yotsugi traces her address. In the last place, they discover some items believed to belong to the missing girl including torn children’s clothing and all the other teeth at a parking lot where Koyomi parks a car.
On the following day, a lady, who introduces as Hibari Beniguchi (the sister of Kujaku), comes in contact with Koyomi after his having lunch with his girlfriend Hitagi Senjogahara. In the aftermath, he recognizes the lady who he meets just before is not Hibari Beniguchi by looking at a picture of the real sister of Kujaku.
As a result of a discussion among Koyomi, Mayoi, Shinobu and Yotsugi at North Shirahebi Shrine, they arrive at the possibility that this missing case is caused by an apparition (an oddity). They go to the apartment of Hibari in a hurry, however, Kujaku is not there while Hibari temporarily travels overseas.
When they return to North Shirahebi Shrine, Kujaku reaches there, who the lost child goddess Mayoi beckons for. Kujaku is transported into an adult by an apparition since she wishes to grow up rapidly and leave her neglectful parents. Finally, Kujaku is restored to her former state by the Shinobu’s ability called Energy Drain since she wishes to revert to a child again.

Mayoi Snake (Monster Season: Episode 3)
Mayoi Snake (まよいスネイク) is the second episode in Yoimonogatari following Mayoi Snail, which is also positioned as the third episode in Monster Season. It represents the beginning of the Nadeko Sengoku Arc in Monster Season continuing into Yotsugi Shadow in Amarimonogatari, Ougi Flight in Ougimonogatari and Nadeko Around in Shinomonogatari.

Mayoi Snake presents another major part of Monster Season focusing on the third-grade middle schooler Nadeko Sengoku, who stays at home and draws manga. The tsukumogami girl Yotsugi Ononoki tells her the story of Mayoi Snail.
Nadeko visits North Shirahebi Shrine with Yotsugi to transfer the divine right to the new goddess Mayoi Hachikuji. In stead of Izuko Gaen, the leader of the apparition specialists, Yozuru Kagenui, an Onmyoji specialist and a master of Yotsugi, is present to witness the ceremony for the tradition of the divine right.

- She tells Nadeko to handle the challenge of capturing and handing over eighty nine white snakes to Mayoi Hachikuji (“Hachiku” of Hachikuji means eight and nine in Japanese) by the time dawn breaks.
In the end, according to Yozuru’s report to Izuko, Nadeko draws pictures of eighty nine white snakes and gives them to Mayoi. Mayoi succeeds in taking over the post of the god enshrined in North Shirahebi Shrine owing to the overwhelming drawing ability of Nadeko.
In the final part of Mayoi Snake, it’s suggested that Nakode’s first mission as a training for a specialist will be facing Araundo Uroko, an immortal monster.

Can you enjoy the anime adaptation of Yoimonogatari?
Monogatari Series, the popular light novel series written by Nisio Isin, has been adapted into the anime series by Shaft since the first part Bakemonogatari aired in 2009. And then, Final Season was competed with Zoku Owarimonogatari in 2018-2019.
Many fans of Monogatari Series are wondering if the rest of the light novel parts are made into anime adaptations such as Off Season and Monster Season. The director Akiyuki Shinbo said it would depend on the anime production company Aniplex, however, we can believe they will complete the anime series of Yoimonogatari with high quality in the future since the studio Shaft has created that Monogatari Series, which had been looked on impossible to be adapted into anime.
