23. Uncle from Another World
More isekai anime series has been adapted from popular light novels and manga lately, and people are enjoying some isekai-categorized anime in 2022. Uncle from Another World (異世界おじさん) can be easily distinguished from many other titles by the humor. The fantasy comedy anime is based on the same-titled manga series on an online publishing platform ComicWalker since 2018, made by a Japanese anime studio Atelier Pontdarc this year.
Set in 2017, Uncle from Another World starts when a 19-year-old boy Takafumi Takaoka goes to see his uncle in the hospital since he awoke from a deep coma after 17 years. Takafumi decides to take the weird Uncle under his care, who tells that he comes back from a fantasy world called Granbahamal after living there for 17 years. Uncle actually shows some magic abilities to prove he was in the different world. The story about his life there consists of an interesting adventure and a funny incidents caused by his personality.
22. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Season 4
The popular action fantasy anime Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? (ダンジョンに出会いを求めるのは間違っているだろうか) comes with its fourth season in the summer of 2022. Summer Time Rendering (サマータイムレンダ) is one of the highest-quality anime airing with 25 episodes in this spring and summer, categorized as mystery and thriller. Sunrise completed a new Mobile Suit Gundam series titled Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury (機動戦士ガンダム 水星の魔女) airing from October, 2022. As a new television anime series of the classic mecha series, it was released for the first time in five years following the previous title Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. The second part of The Witch from Mercury will be broadcasted from April, 2023.
Suletta Mercury, the 17-year-old female protagonist from Mercury, joins the Asticassia School of Technology in an asteroid. The story is rolled out when she saves a girl Miorine Rembran floating in space. The school has a tradition of duels by students who bet what is important for them. 17. Kaguya-sama: Love Is War -Ultra Romantic- (Season 3)
The popular rom-com series is reaching the third season as Kaguya-sama: Love Is War -Ultra Romantic- (かぐや様は告らせたい -ウルトラロマンティック-) in April, 2022, following the first and second seasons with 24 episodes airing in 2019 and 2020. For both classic and new fans of the famous anime series Ghost in the Shell, the second season of the latest series Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 (攻殻機動隊 SAC_2045) has been distributed exclusively on Netflix since May 23, 2022. However, the serialization was re-started by Kouji Mori and Studio Gaga from June, 2022, which has surprised and pleased many existing fans. Call of the Night (よふかしのうた) is a more highly rated anime series than expectations of many anime fans, staring in this summer. Its original manga series has been serialized on Weekly Shonen Sunday since 2019, written by Kotoyama. It is adapted into the high-quality romantic comedy anime mixed with fantasy and slice-of-life by Tomoyuki Itamura, who also joined the productions of the renowned series such as Monogatari Series and Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
Call of the Night follows a strange night life of a 14-year-old boy Ko Yamori, who refuses to attend the middle school for any reason. The story begins when he goes outside at midnight for the first time and encounters a pink-hair vampire girl named Nazuna Nanakusa. She guides him on how to spend a long night and he feels comfortable hanging out with her.

10. Akebi’s Sailor Uniform
Akebi’s Sailor Uniform (明日ちゃんのセーラー服) is one of the best anime freshly launched with their first season, broadcasting with 12 episodes from January to March, 2022. The school-themed, slice-of-life anime is adapted from the original manga series that has been written by Hiro and serialized on an online manga publishing site Tonari no Young Jump since 2016.
Akebi’s Sailor Uniform concentrates a 13-year-old cheerful and outgoing girl Komichi Akebi, who meets many friends after entering the prestigious middle school. The beautiful drawings of the middle school girls and the countryside in the manga series are successfully reconstructed in the anime by CloverWorks.
9. Bocchi the Rock!
A unique band-themed anime Bocchi the Rock! (ぼっち・ざ・ろっく!) has been featured around the world since it started airing in October, 2022. It is adapted from the ongoing slice-of-life and comedy manga series serialized on Manga Time Kirara Max by Aki Hamaji since since 2017. CloverWorks is the anime studio that is in charge of the production of Bocchi the Rock!.
Bocchi the Rock! focuses on high school girls but mainly presents their after-school life at Starry, a live music club in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo. A protagonist Hitori Goto is not good at communicating with others or making friends at school. With her good guitar skills, she is half-compelled to join a high schooler rock band Kessoku Band by its drummer Nijika Ijichi and bassist Ryo Yamada. 6. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
The quality of a modern sci-fi newcomer, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, frightened many fans, arriving in September, 2022. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (サイバーパンク エッジランナーズ) was released as a spin-off anime series derived from a Polish action role-playing video game titled Cyberpunk 2077, but the anime is enjoyable enough on its own. In fact, I would guess that most people who enjoyed it have probably not yet played the game. Made by Studio Trigger and CD Projekt, this anime series was distributed on Netflix worldwide.
The poor protagonist, David Martinez, starts over from the bottom of his life after his mother dies in an accident. He puts on the cyberware his mother left him, which dramatically increases his physical abilities, allowing him to perform dangerous missions. He chooses to live on the edge of life and death as an Edgerunner despite the risk of becoming a cyberpsycho. Not only David, but also his unique friends are cute and cool characters in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
5. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Entertainment District Arc (Season 2)
The greatest dark-fantasy anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (鬼滅の刃) is still enjoying significant and won’t stop growing it for a while. From the end of 2021, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 titled Entertainment District Arc aired with 11 episodes following the smach-hit film Mugen Train in 2020. The original manga series written by Koyoharu Gotouge was completed in May, 2022. On the other hand, the current anime series composed of 37 episodes and a movie covers only about half of the whole manga story. Many fans are excited at the intense battle of Tanjiro and the Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui with Daki, the Twelve Kizuki’s Upper Rank Six demon.
It has been announced that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 3 (Swordsmith Village Arc) will come in no distant future, which casts a spotlight on the Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji and the Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito in addition to the familiar main characters including Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke. 4. Lycoris Recoil
Receiving the acceptance of a broad range of anime lovers, Lycoris Recoil (リコリス・リコイル) is definitely one of the best anime series in the summer of 2022 and has a significant presence even throughout the year. The new anime, made by the well-known anime studio A-1 Pictures, is the first series directed by Shingo Adachi, who is also famous for character designs for the Sword Art Online series and the Working!! series. 13 episodes were broadcast from July, 2022.
Set in a fictional city in Japan, Lycoris Recoil focuses on Lycoris, a female task force against crime. LycoReco, a branch of the Lycoris’s security organization known as DA, is ostensibly run as an ordinary cafe by two young Lycoris girls. Chisato Nishikigi, one of the leading skillful Lycoris, welcomes a newcomer Takina Inoue at the cafe. The teenage girls handle with various dangerous incidents to maintain security.
3. Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 2 (Season 4)
Who missed the most interesting part of the modern masterpiece Attack on Titan (進撃の巨人)? Attack on Titan: The Final Season started with 16 episodes in 2020, followed by Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 2 consisting of 12 additional episodes in the beginning of 2022. Hajime Isayama’s original manga series comprises 34 volumes published between 2009 and 2021, and the rest of the unadapted story will be covered by Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 3 coming in 2023.
After overcoming several critical incidents, the tough fight of the the Survey Corps never ends losing important members. In the latest season, the protagonist is confronted with a severe choice. A lot of mysteries about the titans are revealed throughout the recent seasons, however, it’s still difficult to predict further in the story. 2. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean (Season 5)
Many anime fans will agree that Stone Ocean, the fifth season of the popular dark-fantasy adventure anime JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険), is the best anime of 2022. The live-legend original manga series written by Hirohiko Araki has been adapted into anime series since the first and second part Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency was released between 1987 and 1989. Based on the original manga serialized on Weekly Shonen Jump between 1999 and 2003, Stone Ocean is made by David Production. It was first distributed exclusively to Netflix with the first 12 episodes in the end of 2021 and another 12 episodes added to the streaming site in September 2022. Stone Ocean is scheduled to finish with 14 additional episodes distributing from December 2022 on Netflix.
